Athletics at AAHS

Air Academy High School provides athletic programs available to all students in an environment where student-athletes grow through athletic competition, character development, and teamwork. As a department, we teach our student-athletes the value of communication, character, discipline, collaboration, and integrity.

Athletics Eligibility

All students must meet eligibility requirements to participate in athletics. Read more about eligibility.

Online registration is required to participate in sports at all Academy District 20 schools. As a part of the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA), we use the rSchoolToday registration system. Use the button above labeled "Online Athletics Registration" to access your school-specific login page.

If you are creating a new account, rSchoolToday will send a verification email with a link when an account is created. After the verification is complete, the registration process can proceed. Families will only need to verify the email address once. Parents can register a student for a single sport, or multiple sports at once, however, parents will need to complete a separate registration for each student in their household.

For technical support with registration, please contact rSchoolToday at support@rschooltoday.com.

Sports Physicals

A current sports physical is also required to participate in all athletics programs. Visit our Sports Physicals page for additional information.

Athletics Fees

Students pay a fee for each sport in which they participate. Athletic fees cover a portion of the cost of operating the school athletic program.

The Student Fees page and the Parent/Student-Athlete Handbook (high schools only) provide detailed information on per-season fees and maximums for individuals and families. Some sports require specialized equipment. Refer to the Parent/Student-Athlete Handbook or speak to the coach for more information.

Please pay for athletics fees via Infinite Campus which is the preferred payment method. If necessary, you may pay with a check at your school's Bookkeeping or Athletic Office. We do not accept debit or credit cards over the phone.

Athletics Registration

Registration is required to participate in athletics. Learn more about registration. The Physical Evaluation form is required by the Colorado High School Athletics Association (CHSAA).

Before your athlete can participate in athletics programs, the last page of the physical form must be signed and dated by the doctor, and uploaded during the  rSchool registration process .

Getting a Physical

We recommend getting a physical during the summer, as physicals expire yearly. If a physical is obtained during the school year, keep in mind that it may expire in the middle of an athletics season the following year, possibly causing delays in participation.

School Assignment occurs when a student wants to participate in athletics (soccer, swimming, track, etc.) or activities (band, choir, etc.) at a different D20 school because that activity is not offered at their current school.

The assignment process is specific to athletics and activities governed by the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) at the middle and high school levels. Some programs at the middle school level may be capped.

A student may also have an interest in an after-school activity that is offered at another school at the middle school level. These requests are not subject to the placement policy and must be directed to the school involved.

The Request For Participation (RFP) form (see Related Links on this page) must be completed annually and students may not participate until the assignment is completed.

Students who participate in home-based education or who do not reside in the district may be eligible to participate in our programs. For more information, please review Policy IGDJ R or contact the District Athletics and Activities Department at the Education and Administration Center via email or by calling 719-234-1214.

Once a student has been assigned a school for the requested sports or activities, that assignment will not change in subsequent years unless the student's school of enrollment changes to one that offers the requested programs. The RFP form must still be completed annually to ensure accurate placement based on the new school year.

When the student has been formally placed for the current school year, the student must register for the requested sport through the website of the school where they will be participating in that sport. Contact the assigned school's athletics department for questions or additional information. If a student has been placed for a co-curricular CHSAA activity, the student must work with counseling staff at the school involved to modify the student's schedule.

Participating in Athletics/Activities Outside of Your Home School

Students who want to participate or continue participating in a sport or activity that their school does not offer will need to complete the Request for Participation (RFP) form to be placed at an Academy District 20 (D20) school that offers the requested sport or activity. More about the School Assignment process.
